Dear Reader:
I know this might sound “corny” but I was completely overwhelmed with emotion (by the end of the day-yesterday) from so many beautiful responses I got back from you on the Tenth Anniversary Celebration of Chapel of Hope Stories… with the kindest, most heart-felt messages!
*It was one day when I didn’t have to add any eye drops…my eyes filled up naturally on and off all day.
In addition… the number of views yesterday sent my personal daily blog graph spiraling…. I am sure my WordPress consultant (I am assigned to) must have wondered what in the heck happened!
It was unimaginable… even to me! It was like Christmas magnified beyond comprehension…simply staggering…mind-boggling! Let’s just say you made me ultra-happy to have reached this enjoyable benchmark in my life.
Anne Peterson, not only designed the Tenth Anniversary painting for me on the spur of the moment, but completed her submission to the new CPW Art Center in Summerville… where the old Post Office once stood.
I hurried there yesterday morning to see her entry and loved it…she had texted me a ‘sneak peek’ a couple of days ago and I was ready to take a bite out of it…so realistic in its deceiving simplicity…see for yourself. (You can also tell that Anne once taught Creative Writing because her explanation of the painting is perfect!)
All the entries are framed 5 X 7 paintings to resemble “post cards” since the building had once been a post office. The exhibit is free and open to the public…it is amazing the talent we have here in our town from all walks of life and ages! This exhibition will be on display until near the end of September. Come out and be astounded!
As I started over to the art center yesterday morning…I must admit I was slightly irritated…after Jeff had cleaned the yard so thoroughly recently…hoards of pine cones had started falling, along with branches and sprays…and as if this wasn’t enough…the squirrels had started eating the ‘pine cones’ like corn on the (pine) cob…leaving the cobs and their remains behind for me to rake up. ARRRGH!
My front and back yards are turning into pine cone wastelands. But then it happened…as I stared at the art submissions…I found myself laughing at, well, myself . I was being a bit overly dramatic! 
*The Pine Tree is revered in Summerville …we have mottos for it, poems about it, even town ordinances against cutting pines down.. we also have a town history of the tourist attraction once that brought people with respiratory problem to Summerville, the Village in the Pines, for the medicinal effects from the pine trees.
I found myself staring at several reminders of this artistically….these beautiful paintings got my attitude back on track…Long Live the Pines!
Before I started downstairs where the “post cards” were….I went in one room where the owner of (People, Places, and Quilts) …“Summerville’s own Queen of Quilts” Diane Frankenberger had a show.
As you walk in…you are simply awestruck by the beauty, charm, and history behind her talented unique assortment and collection of quilts.
Being a history buff I was fascinated by an adorable story behind two quilted “angels” who started out being witches…
Diane met Annie first, as a neighbor, when she first moved to South Carolina in the late sixties… Annie told her she was a witch…(a most helpful kind of witch to have near you since she knew all about local plants used for medicinal purposes, along with local produce.)
One day she went with Annie to visit and have lunch with her sister, Pearl, who also claimed to be a witch. All Diane knew was that it was one of the best meals she ever ate amid charming company.
The two sisters could conjure up just about anything to help anybody with a problem…so Diane created Annie and Pearl from memory…turning them into the angels they always were!
So until tomorrow…Life really is like a “corn“ucopia of diversified delights found within one beautiful natural container. The more diversified the look… the more interesting life is.
